VIENNA's cargo-partner posted a 72 per cent increase in annual 2021 revenue to EUR1.8 billion (US$1.89 billion) year on year.
The successful growth trajectory of the Austrian logistics provider reflected in the expansion of the global branch office network and an increase in warehouse capacity, the company said.
'We realised early on what would matter in the Covid crisis and reacted quickly in adapting our internal processes and our service portfolio,' said CEO Stefan Krauter.
'We have further strengthened our long-established presence in Central and Eastern Europe and in Asia and also tapped into strategically important new target markets with office openings in the United Kingdom, Greece, North Macedonia, Australia and most recently Indonesia,' he said.
In FCL rail transport, cargo-partner handled 15,000 TEU last year - almost 40 per cent more than in 2020, while LCL rail transport volumes grew from 66,000 to 110,000 cubic metres.
Cargo-partner achieved single- or double-digit growth in all areas in terms of volume, but the biggest sales driver was the historically high freight rates.
The strongest growth was seen in air freight, where tonnage rose from over 180,000 tonnes to just under 240,000 tonnes in 2021. This increase of over 32 per cent can be credited mainly to the company's extensive range of charter and emergency solutions, which have been in growing customer demand for some time.
