SRI LANKA's Container Transporters' Association has decided to increase transport charges 60 per cent following the fuel price hike announced by both the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and Lanka IOC last week, reports ColomboPage.
Importers say the increase in container freight rates will further push up the price of imported goods.
The move comes along while the prices for many essential goods, such as food and medicine, were granted permission to allow increases in prices and the importation of several non-essential items was restricted.
