THE Freeport of Riga in Latvia throughput was up 10.5 per cent in January 2022 to 1.87 million tonnes of cargo, reports PortNews.
According to the port's statistics, handling of grain fell 43.5 per cent to 115,500 tonnes, oil products 9.9 per cent to 182,800, chemicals 37.1 per cent to 64,300 tonnes, metal scrap and metal 72.5 per cent to 8,100 tonnes.
Handling of coal and coke surged 114.6 times to 458,300 tonnes.
Handling of ore rose 5.7 per cent to 105,300 tonnes, sawn timber 40.2 per cent to 43,600 tonnes, wood chips 35 per cent to 100,900 tonnes
The Port's container throughput rose 2.9 per cent to 33,641 TEU.
