QTERMINALS has started full operations of the first and second phases of Hamad Port's second container terminal (CT2), increasing the port's container capacity to three million TEU per year, reports Qatar's Gulf Times.
The development of CT2 was completed within budget and the timetable set out, despite the Covid crisis.
The CT2 is focused on increasing the volume of the intra-regional trade of Qatar.
QTerminals has completed over six million man-hours without a lost time incident during operations and the development works of CT2.
The CT2 development project consists of four phases.
The area of Phases 1 and 2 of Hamad Port's CT2 is 380,000 square metres and the quayside is 624 metres long.
Phases 3 and 4 would be developed later to raise the port's operational capacity according to local market needs.
