Antalya-based ARES Shipyard and Ankara-based Meteksan Defense by operating with national capital in the defense industry, as a result of the research and development activities that have been going on for several years, in the field of Unmanned Marine Vehicles; implemented the first unmanned combat vessel solution of Turkey. The Armed Unmanned Marine Vehicle, whose prototype production will be completed in December, will be the first of the "ULAQ" series.
Armed Unmanned Marine Vehicle, which has 400 kilometers cruising range, 65 kilometers per hour speed, day / night vision capability, national encrypted communication infrastructure and manufactured from advanced composite material; It can be used by land mobile vehicles and headquarters command center or floating platforms such as aircraft carriers and frigates in the performance of missions such as Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Intelligence, Surface Warfare, Asymmetric Warfare, Armed Escort, Force Protectio and Strategic Facility Security.
The Design works of the prototype boat were completed in August and structural production was completed, is planned to be launched in December 2020, following the outfitting activities. The firing tests of the first Armed Unmanned Marine Vehicle will be carried out in the first quarter of 2021 with 4 Javelin and 2 L-UMTAS missile systems provided by the national missile systems manufacturer ''Roketsan''.
Armed Unmanned Marine Vehicle; It can be equipped with different types of payloads such as electronic warfare, jamming, and different communication and intelligence systems, as well as missile systems to meet different operational operational needs. However, it will be able to operate with other Armed Unmanned Marine Vehicles with a similar or different structure, and have joint operation capabilities with other unmanned aircrafts. On the other hand, Armed Unmanned Marine Vehicle will not only be a remotely controlled unmanned sea vehicle, but also will be equipped with superior and ahead of the curve capabilities with artificial intelligence and autonomous behavior features.
It was stated that unmanned marine vehicles for intelligence gathering, mine hunting, submarine defense warfare, fire fighting and humanitarian aid / evacuation will be ready for production after the prototype Armed Unmanned Marine Vehicle, which is the first phase of the project initiated by ARES Shipyard and Meteksan Defense in the field of unmanned marine vehicles.
In the joint press release made on October 28, 2020, ARES Shipyard General Manager Utku Alanç said: “As a result of the labor-intensive studies and investments we made to realize this dream we established a few years ago, in the field of Unmanned Marine Vehicles; Our pride and happiness in implementing the first unmanned national combat watercraft solution is indescribable.''
Meteksan Defense General Manager Selçuk Alparslan said: “With the developments that have emerged in recent years, we understand once again how essential the blue homeland defense of our country, surrounded by the sea on three sides, the protection of our maritime continental shelf and exclusive economic zone. Meteksan to evaluate for the defense as long years of communication and sensor systems are the technological know-how we have gained in the field of unmanned marine vehicles, to you today with ARES Shipyard Turkey First Combatant We are very proud to offer the Unmanned Vessel.''
