INDIA's SpiceJet launched cargo flights from Visakhapatnam airport to Surat and Kolkata on February 25.
The first cargo flight from Chennai is scheduled to land in Vizag at 11.50 hrs and depart for Surat at 13.05 hrs. This flight operates on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The second freighter from Chennai -- SG 7050 -- arrives in Visakhapatnam at 11.50 hrs and takes off at 13.05 hrs for Kolkata. This flight operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Both domestic and international air cargo volumes from Visakhapatnam have been growing over the past four years, and growth has been particularly strong over the latter two years, reports Chennai's Hindu daily
The exports from Vizag include seafood, automobile parts, diamonds and textiles.
These flights are expected to be a boon to cargo exporters, especially seafood exporters, who have to export their products in the shortest possible time, say the experts from the AP Air Travellers' Association.
