GREEK airline sky express took delivery of an ATR 72 600 last month as part of a firm order for two new aircraft from the IOGR group, reports Sydney's Asian Aviation.
This marks a step in the airline's growth of its regional fleet from six to eight ATR 72-600 and six ATR -500 for a total of 14 ATRs. The airline is planning further fleet modernisation in 2024.
Greek communities and tourists will both benefit from the reinforced connectivity across the region, as SKY express intends to offer additional flights each year, taking advantage from the aircraft family's versatility, short runway capabilities, low operating costs and reduced CO2 emissions.
'As we continue to grow our regional fleet, we are delighted to operate the youngest ATR fleet in the region and we have commitments for further fleet standardisation and improvement early in Q1 2024,' said SKY express CEO Konstantinos Iliakis.
Said ATR chief executive Nathalie Tarnaud: 'SKY express' growth illustrates the dynamism of the regional market, continuous success of ATR in Europe, and a shared commitment to sustaining essential connectivity while tangibly reducing emissions.'
