THE Maritime and Port Authority of singapore (MPA) has reported that the Singapore-flagged 2,078-TEU Lobivia was struck by unidentified projectiles while transiting the Gulf of Aden, reports New York's Marine.
The impact resulted in a fire aboard, which the crew successfully extinguished.
According to the MPA, all crew members are accounted for and safe, and there are no Singaporeans among them.
The ship was moving under its power and has arrived at Berbera Port, Somalia, to assess the damage and necessary repairs.
'MPA is in contact with the vessel manager to provide any assistance required. The Republic of Singapore Navy's Information Fusion Centre has alerted its security partners in the Gulf of Aden region to provide any assistance required,' said the port authority.
