SHENZHEN, China-based SF Airlines, the aviation branch of SF Express, has been given the green light to launch regular air cargo services from Chengdu in China's Sichuan province to Lhasa Gongga Airport in Tibet. The route will be operated by Boeing 757-200 freighters.
The Guangdong province airline has 44 freighters, the nation's largest air cargo fleet, reported Xinhua news agency.
The altitude of Lhasa Gongga Airport is 3,600 metres with complicated geography and changeable weather, necessitating some modifications to the aircraft.
With its nationwide and global network, SF Airlines has flown two million tonnes of cargo since operations began in 2009.
