Responders were facing challenging monsoon season conditions at the 'SSL Kolkata' in the Bay of Bengal. An oil spill response team from OSRL has arrived on scene and was the process of managing the counter pollution operations as responders battled challenging weather conditions. Various local smaller vessel crews were also on scene to more easily approach the site. The salvors Smit have mobilized the platform 'SMIT Borneo' (IMO: 8757348) from Singapore which was currently en route to the casualty site to assist with the removal of the remaining bunker, cargo and debris. The specialist clean-up contractor Le Floch Depollution has been retained and was currently on site in the event of an oil leakage.
