From February 18 to 21, 2025, Singapore hosted the latest IALA General Assembly, where pivotal decisions shaping the future of maritime affairs were made. During this meeting, Turkey was successfully re-elected to the Council, further solidifying its position in the international maritime arena. Notably, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Durmuş Ünüvar announced that Serhat Aytuğel, Deputy Director General of Coastal Safety, gained a prominent new role.
Aytuğel was appointed Vice Chair of the Policy Advisory Panel, a key body within IALA responsible for shaping organizational strategies, ensuring alignment among member nations, and guiding policy formulation.
