ST PETERSBURG's Global Ports group declared that its July-September and its January-September volume enjoyed a recovery of vessel calls at the Baltic ports as well as continuing strong demand in the Far East and southern basins, reported St Petersburg's PortNews.
The company announced that Russian container market grew 37.2 per cent in the third quarter year on year, the group said in its news release.
The market was broadly flat in Q3 2023 compared to Q2 2023 (down 0.4 per cent). Total marine container throughput of Russian ports amounted to 1.19 million TEU in Q3 2023 compared to 87,000 million TEU in Q3 2022.
The group's consolidated container throughput amounted to 241,000 TEU in Q3, an increase of 16 per cent quarter to quarter and growth of 19.4 per cent year on year, compared to the quarter to quarter's slight decline of 0.4 per cent, but a year-on-year growth of 37.2 per cent.
Container throughput at the group's terminals in the Baltics increased in Q3 2023 to 84,900 TEU. Container throughput of the group's terminals in Baltics were 55.4 per cent below the nine month volumes posted in 2022.
The group increased its marine bulk throughput in Q3 2023 by 50.5 per cent year on year to 1.8 million tons and, for nine months of 2023, by 89.9 per cent year on year to 4.8 million tons.
