SINGAPORE'S Pacific International Lines (PIL) has announced the addition of Hamad Port in Qatar and Dammam in Saudi Arabia to its Gulf China Service (GCS), to its existing calls to Jebel Ali in Dubai.
Thus, from January 9 the GCS rotation will be Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha, Shekou, Singapore, Jebel Ali, Dammam, Hamad, Singapore and back to Shanghai.
The enhanced service will call Singapore westbound from China to Middle East. Currently, GCS calls on Singapore eastbound from Middle East to China and then connects Middle East directly to China on the westbound route.
The further enhanced GCS service will be served by the current consortium of seven vessels with an upgraded average effective capacity of 4,000-5,200 TEU.
'We are enhancing our GCS service to broaden PIL's presence in Middle East, and to capitalise on the growth potential of the Middle East region,' said pil chief trade officer Tonnie Lim.
'We also aim to further strengthen our linkages from South East Asia,' he said.
