The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change had given permission last month to bring the nuclear aircraft carrier Nae Sao Paulo, purchased by the Turkish company Sök Denizcilik from Brazil in April 2021, to İzmir Aliağa for dismantling. Although scientists warned of the environmental and public health hazards associated with the dismantling, the ministry did not back down. The ship is expected to depart from the Port of Rio De Janeiro on August 5.
