MALTA Freeport Terminals achieved the milestone by executing 14,600 moves on the CMA CGM mega containership Palais Royal, setting a new record for the facility, reports the Times of Malta.
The LNG-powered vessel, stretching 400 metres in length and with a capacity to carry 23,000 TEU, arrived at malta Freeport on December 6.
Currently en route to Marseilles, the headquarters of French shipping giant CMA CGM, one of the shareholders of Malta Freeport.
'I am immensely proud of my colleagues for pulling off this feat, which required a great deal of planning, skill, commitment, and determination,' said Freeport CEO Alex Montebello.
'This achievement is a testament to the Freeport's ability to handle the world's largest container vessels with extreme care and maximum efficiency. We thank CMA CGM for entrusting us with this mission.'
