Maersk's 14th Triple-E newbuilding to join a 2M Asia-Europe loop
THE newly delivered 18,340-TEU Munkebo Maersk is to join the Far East-Europe AE-5/Albatros loop offered by Maersk Line and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) within the context of the 2M Alliance, implemented this month.
The newbuilding is the 14th of 20 Triple E-class vessels ordered from the Daewoo shipyard (DSME) in Korea in 2011, reports Alphaliner.
The Danish shipping line's latest newbuilding will be deployed on the first sailing this week of the AE-5/Albatros loop, which will be operated with 10 ships of 14,000-19,000 TEU, five of which will be provided by Maersk and five by MSC.
The Munkebo Maersk follows the Mogens Maersk, delivered in November. The remaining six Triple-E units are to be delivered in the next nine months.
