SWISS-HEADQUARTERED Kuehne+Nagel has expanded its John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) facility in New York by adding a 4,500 sq ft stand-alone, GxP-compliant, temperature-controlled area.
It has extended its existing 78,763sq ft of warehousing at the gateway by 10,000sq ft, reports London's Air Cargo News.
The temperature-controlled space has two separate areas to support requirements from +2 degrees Celsius to +25 degrees Celsius for healthcare or perishable cargo. The site is both GDP and IATA CEIV compliant as part of Kuehne+Nagel's own HealthChain certification.
The bonded, container freight station (CFS) site is close to the airport, offers 24-hour availability, and has 20 gates. It also holds C-TPAT security accreditation with continuous CCTV monitoring.
The extended site also gives the forwarder better unit load device (ULD) capabilities, allowing cargo to be kept together with fewer touch points.
The facility also holds Kuehne+Nagel's own EngineChain certification, as well as solutions for battery logistics and finished vehicle logistics.
Senior vice president, air Logistics for North America, Greg Martin, said the enhanced and expanded capabilities at one of the top international hubs would support current and future customers in areas including healthcare, aerospace, semiconductor and perishables.
