GERMAN shipping giant Hapag-Lloyd has acquired Rotterdam-based Nile Dutch Investments (NileDutch), with full commercial integration to be completed by the end of year, reports the American Journal of Transportation.
With 40 years of experience in the market, NileDutch is one of the leading shipping companies along the West African coast, NileDutch is in 85 locations across the world and has 16 offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Singapore, China, Angola, Congo and Cameroon.
The company also brings with it seven liner services, 35,000 TEU of transport capacity and a container fleet with a capacity of 80,000 TEU.
'The acquisition will strengthen Hapag-Lloyd's position in West Africa and unlock the enormous potential that Africa offers for growing together with our customers. NileDutch's shipping experts will bring along invaluable local knowledge of key countries previously without own Hapag-Lloyd representation,' said the Hapag-Lloyd statement.
