On 16 July, a Fire broke out on the tRANS ASIA 1 vessel, off Lapu Lapu City, Cebu, Philippines. The ship, which was out of service, had 8 maintenance crew and 1 bodyguard. All the people on the ship, which was engulfed in flames in a short time, were evacuated, and 2 people affected by the smoke were treated. Officials said the fire was extinguished in about 4 hours. It turned out that the burning ship was an unfortunate ferry.According to Trans Asia Shipping Lines' official statement released immediately after the accident, the ferry was under repair to be put back into service.
