A LEADING multinational customer in the rapid diagnostics sector has turned to global transportation specialist dimerco to deliver self-test Kits from Hong Kong as quickly and cost-effectively as possible to Taiwan where covid-19 infections continue to rise.
According to Dimerco's Central Service Centre (CSC), the customer selected Dimerco based on its flexible solution of its previous support on global bidding.
In this case, Dimerco used commercial air freight to transport 165 pallets with a total weight of nearly 50 tonnes from HKG to TPE within just four days, despite the required delivery date directly following the busy Hong Kong Easter holiday.
Dimerco also achieved significant savings for its customer by consolidating the cargo into a single flight rather than the usual two to three passenger flights after the airline's HQ agreed to prioritise the freight, also avoiding the express freight charges generally expected for peak time Friday, the company said in a statement.
Dimerco's CSC comments, 'Our strong relationship with the airline allowed us to meet our customer's critical time requirements, deliver significant cost savings for them and reduce the transit risk for this temperature-controlled commodity.
Similarly, we were able to leverage our long-established partnership with the trucking company to optimise dispatch.'
As 3.5 million people, or about 15 per cent of the population of Taiwan, are estimated to be at risk from being infected by Covid-19, this project was critical and we are proud to have been able to play our part, delivering vital self-test kits to where they were needed, when they were needed, whilst also saving costs for our customer.'
