CATHAY Pacific's cabin crew union members have voted unanimously in support of action to fight for better rosters and longer layovers.
Media reports say the union warns of further action if the airline's management refused to address what it says are exhausting work rosters that leave little time to rest in between long-haul flights.
The union didn't specify what action would be taken, adding that a strike would be the last resort.
According to Hong Kong's RTHK news, the union's vice-chairwoman Grace Siu said members didn't want to affect Hong Kong people's holiday plans, but want better communication with the airline's management on rostering issues.
In a statement, cathay Pacific reassured customers that its flights would continue as scheduled and said there was no need for concern.
The airline also said it had experienced some 'temporary rostering issues' as it rebuilt its network, but the problem would be dealt with soon.
'Despite the ongoing challenges the airline continues to face as it embarks on the road of recovery, a 3.3 per cent salary increment for 2023 and an ex-gratia payment equivalent to one-month's salary have been announced for all our eligible employees to recognize their commitment and effort during these difficult times,' the statement added.
