THE United Kingdom has lifted its ban on direct air cargo flights from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) with immediate effect, reports Bangladesh Monitor.
The withdrawal came nearly two years after British authorities imposed an embargo on air cargo flights citing poor security, said the report, carried by Amman-based MENAFN, the Middle East North Africa Financial Network.
The announcement of the removal was made at a press conference, jointly organised by Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and the British High Commission in Dhaka.
'I am delighted to confirm that the temporary suspension on direct air cargo between Bangladesh and the UK has been lifted, following significant progress made in meeting a number of important security conditions,' said British High Commissioner Alison Blake.
