KAZAKHSTAN-BASED SCAT Airlines has ordered seven boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft at the Dubai Airshow, reports Montreal's Simple Flying.
Ch-aviation data showed that the airline currently operates three 737 MAX 8 and five 737 MAX 9s, with one additional 737 MAX 9 scheduled to be delivered to the airline in due time. In addition to the MAX aircraft, the airline even has eight 737 Classic aircraft, split between five 737-300 and three 737-500, as well as nine 737 Next Generation (NG) jets, namely one 737-700 and eight 737-800.
Vladimir Denissov, the president of SCAT Airlines, said that the carrier is the 'most dynamically developing airline in Kazakhstan, and it has the largest aircraft fleet in the country.'
Adding seven additional 737 MAX 8s will further increase its capacity, with Mr Denissov adding that: 'It will also positively affect the timely execution of flight schedules. The company will get an opportunity to expand its route network and offer passengers even more travel destinations.'
Meanwhile, Brad McMullen, the senior vice president of commercial sales and marketing at Boeing, said that SCAT Airlines returning to order more 737 MAX 'is a testament to SCAT's confidence in the value, performance and reliability of the 737 MAX family.' Mr McMullen also pointed out that Boeing is eager to support the carrier's 'network expansion and continuing to play an integral role in their long-term success.'
So far, Dubai Airshow 2023 has been dominated by Boeing, which managed to book significant orders, including from Emirates. The Dubai International Airport (DXB)-based airline ordered ninety 777X and thirty-five 787 aircraft, while flydubai took over Emirates' thirty Boeing 787-9 order on the first day of the trade event. Other orders include Turkey-based SunExpress purchasing ninety 737 MAXs, forty-five of which are options, and smaller orders, such as Royal Jordanian's six Boeing 787 aircraft purchase.
On the other hand, Airbus, which dominated Boeing in sales during the Paris Air Show in June 2023, has only announced two orders. On the first day of the event in Dubai, airBaltic ordered thirty Airbus A220-300, with twenty more options, while on the second day EgyptAir purchased ten Airbus A350-900 aircraft, totalling only forty firm orders for the European plane maker.
