THE UK Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) Authority has recently unveiled a set of reforms designed to strengthen emission limits for industry and aviation in 2024, reports Ventura, California's gCaptain. These reforms will expand the emissions cap to encompass additional sectors in the UK, including domestic maritime transport and waste for the first time.
By incorporating domestic maritime transport, waste incineration, and energy from waste sectors into the scheme, the UK demonstrates its commitment to including high-emitting industries in the British ETS.
