CMA CGM and DSV's agreement aims to cut 12,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions over two years using low-carbon maritime transport solutions.

CMA CGM and DSV have signed an agreement under which DSV will use ACT+, CMA CGM's low-carbon maritime transport solution. The agreement is designed to reduce DSV's emissions by 12,000 tonnes of CO2 over two years.

The reductions will come from low-carbon fuels, primarily second-generation biofuels based on UCOME (used cooking oil methyl ester). This fuel is produced from used cooking oils, a waste product, rather than from food crops. According to CMA CGM, ACT+ can cut CO2 emissions by up to 83% compared with conventional maritime fuel.

The agreement reflects a clear shift in how ocean freight is bought and delivered. For DSV, it creates a structured path to lower ocean-freight emissions within existing global shipping flows, without requiring customers to redesign their supply chains.

DSV views the partnership as a way to broaden its customers' access to low-carbon maritime transport options. Cargo owners across retail, manufacturing, and other sectors face growing pressure to measure and reduce emissions within their supply chains. Clear, quantified reduction targets give them credible data to support their own sustainability commitments. Regulation adds further momentum, with frameworks such as the EU Emissions Trading System and FuelEU Maritime now applying to shipping.

"At DSV, reducing emissions along global supply chains requires solid collaboration and scalable solutions," said Michael Hollstein, Senior Vice President, Global Ocean Product at DSV.

The agreement aligns two long-term climate commitments. CMA CGM aims to reach carbon neutrality by 2050. DSV targets net-zero emissions by the same date, both in its own operations and across its value chain.

By pairing a carrier's low-carbon fuel offering with a forwarder's global customer network, the two companies are turning those targets into measurable action today. The 12,000-tonne reduction target provides a concrete benchmark for progress over the two-year term.

For CMA CGM, the partnership "demonstrates how strong collaboration contributes to more resilient and sustainable logistics," said Amandine Paulet, Vice President and Deputy Chief Commercial Officer of CMA CGM.

The agreement shows that decarbonization in ocean freight is no longer a distant goal. It is being built shipment by shipment, through partnerships that link fuel innovation with customer demand. It is not just a fuel agreement but a practical framework for lower-carbon global trade.
