Saudi ports reported an increase to 8.32M TEU in 2025, driven by growth in transshipment and outbound containers, despite declines in car volumes.
Saudi ports handled 8.32 million TEU in 2025, marking a 10.6 percent rise from 7.52 million TEU a year earlier, as reported by Argaam, citing the Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI).
Transshipment containers increased by 11.8 percent to 1.93 million TEUs, up from 1.72 million in 2024, according to MAWANI.
Outbound containers rose by 11.7 percent to 3.15 million TEU, while inbound containers climbed by 8.8 percent to 3.42 million TEU.
Total cargo throughput edged up by 1.1 percent to 242.07 million tons. General cargo accounted for 12.01 million tons, dry bulk reached 176.33 million tons, and liquid bulk totaled 53.74 million tons.
Passenger traffic surged by 47.1 percent to 1.08 million, although ship calls fell by 18 percent to 9,508 from 11,592 in 2024.
Car volumes dropped by 4.9 percent to 1.03 million, while livestock arrivals declined by 7.6 percent to 8.99 million heads.
