Silk Way West Airlines partners with dnata at Changi Airport, boosting cargo links between Baku and South-East Asia, reports Air Cargo Week.
Silk Way West Airlines has signed a multi-year cargo handling agreement with dnata at Singapore Changi Airport, strengthening direct airfreight links between Baku and South-East Asia, reports London's Air Cargo Week.
The twice-weekly freighter service will move more than 15,000 tons of cargo annually, including general freight, temperature-sensitive goods, aerospace components, and industrial equipment. The deal supports Silk Way West's strategy of positioning Baku as a global hub connecting Asia and Europe.
Singapore adds a critical eastern gateway to the airline's network, linking Central Asia with one of the world's largest logistics markets. The agreement builds on dnata's existing handling of Silk Way flights in Amsterdam, Dubai, and Iraq, where it manages more than 1,000 flights a year.
Dnata supports over 30 airline customers at Changi, processing 250,000 tons of cargo annually and managing 22,000 flights. Globally, it operates at more than 90 airports in 16 countries, handling 3.2 million tons of cargo in the 2025-2026 financial year.
Founded in 2012, Silk Way West has positioned Azerbaijan as a transit point along the Middle Corridor, a route from China through Kazakhstan, across the Caspian Sea, and into Europe. The Singapore service links Baku directly into South-East Asia's expanding trade ecosystem.
The airline has also signed agreements with Henan Aviation Group to develop a dual-hub model with Zhengzhou and with Nippon Express to strengthen its presence in Japan. The dnata joint venture at Azerbaijan's Alat cargo terminal, due to open in April 2027, will further expand handling and freight forwarding capacity.
Executives from dnata and Silk Way West stated that reliable ground handling is critical to efficient freighter operations. The Singapore deal, alongside other partnerships, underscores Azerbaijan's ambition to become a central hub in global air cargo flows.
