While en route from Italy to Tekirdağ, the 201-meter-long container ship MSC GIANNA III encountered a mechanical failure off Kumkale in the Dardanelles Strait. The Çanakkale Vessel Traffic Services Center responded promptly to the situation.
Under the coordination of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, a pilot captain was assigned to assist the vessel. With the support of tugboats KURTARMA-17 and KURTARMA-18, the ship was safely anchored in the Dark Harbor Anchorage Area, ensuring that maritime traffic in the Strait remained uninterrupted.
Authorities confirmed that there were no disruptions to maritime traffic during the operation, highlighting that the incident was managed effectively from a maritime safety perspective.
