The ZEPHYR PROSPER tanker suffered a mechanical failure in the Dardanelles Strait, halting traffic as tugboats were dispatched for assistance.

The tanker named ZEPHYR PROSPER, loaded with crude oil and en route from Russia to Kocaeli, experienced a machinery failure on Wednesday, April 29, in front of Kilitbahir in the Dardanelles Strait.

To intervene, the tugboats KURTARMA-10, KURTARMA-18, KURTARMA-19, and KURTARMA-20 were dispatched to the vessel.

Following the incident, ship traffic in the Dardanelles Strait was temporarily halted in both directions for safety reasons.

As part of the operation conducted under the coordination of the Çanakkale Vessel Traffic Services Center, the tanker was brought under control with the assistance of a pilot captain and tugboats.

ZEPHYR PROSPER was safely anchored at the Şevketiye anchorage, being towed by the KURTARMA-10 tugboat.
