The 142-meter-long general cargo ship KAPITAN SHYRIAGIN, flying the Tanzanian flag, experienced a machinery failure while transiting the Dardanelles Strait and was anchored at the Karanlık Liman Anchorage Area with the intervention of the Coast Guard teams.
The Tanzanian-flagged general cargo ship KAPITAN SHYRIAGIN, which was en route from Mersin to Yalova, encountered a machinery failure as it approached the Sarıçay area in the Dardanelles Strait.
The captain of the ship reported the malfunction via radio to the Dardanelles Strait Vessel Traffic Services Directorate. Following this, the Coast Guard General Directorate dispatched the tugboats Kurtarma-1 and Kurtarma-17 to the area. Other vessels transiting the strait were also informed about the incident.
After the intervention of the Coast Guard teams, KAPITAN SHYRIAGIN was towed by the tugboats to the Karanlık Liman Anchorage Area, where it was safely anchored.
