The OCEAN MARY bulk carrier suffered a mechanical failure in the Dardanelles Strait but was safely towed to a secure location by the Coast Guard.
A Barbados-flagged bulk carrier that experienced a machinery failure while transiting the Dardanelles Strait was towed to a safe area with the intervention of the Coast Guard teams.
The 119-meter-long bulk carrier named OCEAN MARY, which was en route from Yalova to Aliağa, encountered a malfunction off the coast of Gallipoli. The captain of the vessel reported the situation to the Dardanelles Strait Vessel Traffic Services Directorate via radio.
Following the notification, the Coast Guard General Directorate dispatched the tugboats Kurtarma-18 and Kurtarma-19 to the area.
Other vessels transiting the strait were informed to prevent any potential disruptions. The disabled vessel was anchored at the Doğanarslan Iron Field under the escort of the tugboats.
