Tamer Kıran joined the DTO Aliağa Branch Meeting, where Adem Şimşek declared his candidacy for the October 2, 2026 elections.
The Chairman of the Board of the İMEAK Chamber of Shipping (DTO), Tamer Kıran, and his accompanying delegation attended the İMEAK DTO Aliağa Branch Council Meeting, where they met with branch members and industry representatives.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Aliağa Branch Board, Adem Şimşek, announced that he would run for re-election in the branch elections scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2026.
The meeting, hosted by İsmail Önal, the Chairman of the Aliağa Branch Council, and Adem Şimşek, the Chairman of the Board, was attended by Recep Düzgit, the Vice Chairman of the İMEAK DTO Board, members of the İMEAK DTO Board and Council, members of the Aliağa Branch Board and Council, chamber members, and industry representatives.
The meeting addressed the activities of the Chamber and the current cargo and container movements at the Aliağa ports. The minutes from the previous month's meeting were presented for approval and accepted. Following this, the financial statements for July were discussed and unanimously approved. After sharing the activity report for September with the members, the meeting continued with a speech by Adem Şimşek, the Chairman of the Aliağa Branch Board.
In his speech at the last council meeting before the elections, Adem Şimşek, the Chairman of the Aliağa Branch Board of İMEAK DTO, began by greeting Tamer Kıran, the Chairman of the İMEAK DTO Board, his accompanying delegation, council members, and participants.
Şimşek provided information about the work carried out during their eight-year term, stating that they have addressed priority issues in the branch's area of responsibility with determination and successfully implemented many important projects planned for Aliağa and its surrounding areas.
Emphasizing the significant contribution of Tamer Kıran and the management's support and dedicated efforts to the successes achieved, Şimşek said, 'Thanks to our President's support, we established close contact with all stakeholders in our sector. We closely addressed the problems and demands of everyone from port operators to ship agents, from ship recycling organizations to other stakeholders in the sector. I would like to once again thank our President and the management in your presence.'
Şimşek expressed his gratitude to the board and council members he has worked with during his term, his colleagues, chamber members, and the industry stakeholders who have not withheld their support, stating that the successes achieved are the result of collective intelligence, strong collaboration, and team spirit.
Continuing his speech, Şimşek announced his candidacy for the branch elections to be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, indicating that there are many more works to be done to contribute to the development of Aliağa and the maritime sector. He stated that they would continue their efforts in line with the needs and expectations of the sector in the new term, emphasizing that they would maintain a meticulous, solution-oriented, and participatory management approach. Şimşek noted that they aim to decisively implement new initiatives that will add value to maritime activities in Aliağa.
In the meeting, Tamer Kıran, the Chairman of the İMEAK DTO Board, evaluated the projects implemented during his eight-year term and the developments in the Turkish maritime sector. Sharing his vision and strategic approaches for the future of the sector, Kıran also provided information about the Chamber's goals and priorities for the upcoming period.
He stated that they adopted a management approach based on accessibility, participation, and strong communication with members from the very first day they took office, expressing that this approach has become one of the fundamental elements of the Chamber's corporate working culture.
Kıran emphasized that the opinions, suggestions, and requests communicated from branches and members are significant guides in identifying the problems faced by the sector and developing permanent solutions. He provided information about the projects implemented in cooperation with the Chamber's Central Office and the Aliağa Branch, stating that many issues on the sector's agenda have been resolved thanks to strong collaboration and coordination.
Recep Düzgit, the Vice Chairman of the İMEAK DTO Board, also addressed the members during the meeting.
Düzgit, who grew up intertwined with maritime and closely knows the various fields of the sector, shared his evaluations regarding the current state of the Turkish maritime sector and developments on its agenda, providing examples from his professional experiences. He also conveyed his views on the needs, potential, and future of regional maritime to the members of the Aliağa Branch.
The meeting concluded after listening to the wishes and expectations of the members.
At the end of the meeting, a gift was presented to Tamer Kıran, the Chairman of the İMEAK DTO Board, by Adem Şimşek, the Chairman of the Aliağa Branch Board, in memory of the day.
