Ayçın Özsakabaşı Takes Helm as New President of the Chamber of Marine Engineers

A change in presidency occurred in the 50th Term Board of Directors of the Chamber of Ship Engineers (GMO). Following the resignation of the Board Chairman İlham Çelebi, Ayçın Özsakabaşı was appointed as the new chairman in the subsequent reallocation of duties.

Following İlham Çelebi's resignation, a reallocation of duties was made.

In a statement published by the Union of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) on October 13, 2026, it was reported that a reallocation of duties was carried out within the board of directors following the resignation of the Chamber of Ship Engineers' Board Chairman İlham Çelebi.

With the reallocation of duties stated to have taken place on October 12, Ayçın Özsakabaşı assumed the presidency.

Özsakabaşı had previously served as the general secretary in the prior allocation of duties of the 50th Term Board of Directors.

New board of directors determined.

According to the reallocated duties, the 50th Term Board of Directors of the Chamber of Ship Engineers consists of the following members:

Chairman: Ayçın Özsakabaşı

Vice Chairman: Haluk Çoban

General Secretary: Erkan Ergün

Treasurer Member: Mustafa Serhat Yazıcı

Board Members: Osman Kahraman, Can Serbest, and Özgür Ergin.

It was reported that the distribution of duties in the new board of directors was carried out unanimously.

Change in the 50th Term management.

The 50th Ordinary General Assembly of the Chamber of Ship Engineers was held on March 28-29, 2026.

In the board formed after the general assembly, İlham Çelebi served as chairman, while Ayçın Özsakabaşı served as general secretary.

With the recent change, Özsakabaşı was appointed as chairman, and Erkan Ergün was appointed as general secretary. Özgür Ergin also became one of the regular members of the board of directors.

The TMMOB's statement did not provide information regarding the reasons for İlham Çelebi's resignation.
