The captain of the cargo ship RAZOUK was evacuated by Coast Guard teams after the vessel ran aground in the Turkish Straits. All crew members are safe.
A medical evacuation was carried out for the captain of the cargo ship named RAZOUK, which ran aground in the Turkish Straits at the Türkeli Iron Field. Following the captain's request for medical assistance, a rescue operation was initiated by the Coast Guard General Directorate teams.
According to a statement from the Coast Guard, the evacuation was successfully carried out using the traditional varagele (buoy) system. The captain was safely brought ashore and handed over to medical teams.
It has been reported that the RAZOUK, a cargo vessel built in 1997, has a capacity of 8,749 DWT and is 100 meters (328 feet) long. The ship is flagged under the Comoros Islands and is owned by Turkish companies. There are 12 crew members on board, and it was stated that all personnel are safe following the grounding incident and that no injuries occurred.
The Coast Guard General Directorate announced via its social media account that a medical evacuation request was received on February 3, and the captain was evacuated to the shore using the buoy system and handed over to medical teams.
It has been learned that technical inspections related to the vessel and evaluations regarding the cause of the grounding are ongoing.
