The Jimmy Key Universail Sailing Races took place off the coast of Urla on April 25-26, bringing together 31 boats, 272 athletes, and 18 universities for the 15th time in the same wind. During the two-day event held off Urla, university sailors competed in the Aegean wind and climbed the podium with 24 rankings.
Gathered for the 15th Time in the Aegean Wind
The Jimmy Key Universail Sailing Races, which has become a traditional gathering for university sailors, took place for the 15th time this year off the coast of Urla. The variable winds of the Aegean provided a challenging and educational racing environment for young athletes during the two-day event. In the races, where a total of 31 boats started, 272 athletes competed at sea, while 18 different universities participated with their sailing teams.
31 University Teams, 24 Awards
This year, universities were represented by multiple teams, and a total of 31 university teams took to the course. At the end of the highly competitive races, 24 teams qualified for awards.
Among the universities participating in the organization were strong teams from various disciplines, including Istanbul Bilgi University Sailing Team, Dokuz Eylul University Sailing Team, Yasar University, Dokuz Eylul Engineering, METU Sailing, Hacettepe University, ITU Sailing, Izmir University of Economics, and ITU Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
Intensive Course Over Two Days in Urla
In the organization where two races were held on Saturday and one on Sunday, teams tested their strategy and endurance on the characteristic island routes of the Aegean. On the course stretching from Taş Ada to Hekim Adası, the direction of the wind, team harmony, and instantaneous decisions determined the results. Throughout the race, approximately 50 captains and support teams contributed to the uninterrupted progress of the organization by ensuring land and sea coordination.
More Than a Race for Young People
The Jimmy Key Universail Sailing Races continue to be a meeting place where university students not only engage in sporting competition but also connect with nature and share experiences with teams from different cities. Aiming to transfer maritime culture to younger generations, the organization stood out this year with an emphasis on team spirit and solidarity.

After two days of competition, the 15th Jimmy Key Universail Sailing Races concluded off the coast of Urla with an award ceremony. While the top-ranking teams received their trophies, all participants left the organization with an unforgettable experience on the sea.
