THE latest Tiaca Sustainability Insights Report reveals a surprising drop in the pressure the air cargo industry feels to be sustainable, reports London's Air Cargo News.
The report surveyed 274 industry professionals; 61 per cent of respondents said they felt pressure to be sustainable in the past year.
That's down from 67 per cent in 2024 and 64 per cent in 2023-the first decline since 2022.
The survey found that the drop was most significant among small businesses, where only 44 per cent reported feeling pressure to be sustainable - a 13-point decline.
Medium-sized companies remained steady at 60 per cent, while large businesses saw a five-point drop to 71 per cent.
Despite the decrease, Tiaca noted that sustainability pressure remains higher than in 2021 (58 per cent) and 2022 (56 per cent).
'This is one that we were not prepared for,' said Tiaca secretary general Glyn Hughes.
'We have all seen in the press that since [US] president [Donald] Trump came into office the focus on diversity equity and inclusivity has diminished and the US focus on global warming has diminished as he feels they are not crucial topics.'
