WORLDWIDE Flight Services' (WFS) temperature-controlled pharma hubs in Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa have achieved Good Distribution Practice (GDP) (ISO9001:2015) accreditation.
WFS - which handles 65,000 tonnes of air freight per annum, including pharmaceuticals, for airline customers in Johannesburg and Cape Town - is the first in the country to receive the certifications. The GDP certifications followed an audit of WFS's cargo operations by DQS, a certification body for management systems worldwide, reported London's Air Cargo News.
The company has invested in its Johannesburg and Cape Town facilities to meet rising demand, after pharma cargo volumes in South Africa rose by 15 per cent in the last two years.
This year, WFS also completed multi-million-euro investments into new pharma facilities at airports in Copenhagen, Miami, New York and Paris.
