THE China Coast Guard's 'Monster' ship was last seen on Saturday 157 kilometres (85 nautical miles) from Zambales province in the west Philippine Sea, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), reports the Philippines Inquirer.
The sighting was captured by the PCG vessel BRP Cabra just before sunset.
Malacanang, the presidential palace, expressed 'grave concern' over the ship's presence, underscoring the Philippines' active efforts to challenge it.
The situation highlights ongoing tensions in the contested waters, with Manila reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding maritime sovereignty.
'We view it with concern, so far we have been challenging the presence of that monster ship,' said executive Lucas Bersamin.
According to Mr Bersamin, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has been 'very alert' since the appearance of the Chinese ship.
'It keeps appearing, and it is within our exclusive economic zone, so it is being challenged,' said Mr Bersamin.
