Vanguard Logistics widens photo cargo system it pioneered in Singapore
VANGUARD Logistics Services, a major non-vessel operating container carrier (NVOCC), plans to widen the application of its photographic application for cargo receiving.
Vanguard recently developed this application in Singapore, Malaysia (Port Kelang, Penang, Johor) and Thailand and will soon deploy it in Indonesia, Vietnam and Dubai, said the company. @FAXTEXT = The application allows customers to view pictures of their cargo, including the marks and numbers, on the Vanguard website within minutes of the cargo's arrival. Customers also receive copies of the shipping notes/truck bills and other documents that accompany shipments.
"We will also send a formatted dock receipt complete with piece counts, weight and dimensions within an hour of cargo arriving. If there are any differences in what is received as compared to the booking, we can now provide overage, shortage and damage notification via e-mail soon after the cargo arrives.
"This will allow us to assist customers in resolving issues much sooner than previously possible," said south Asia and Mideast manager Jeffery Lee.@FAXTEXT = The process allows companies to check the status of cargo or request photos of cargo rather than making phone calls or emails chasing information, added a company statement.
