Univan celebrates 40th anniversary opening new Philippines HQ in Manila
THIRD party ship manager Univan Ship Management Limited, which is involved in managing a wide range of ship types, is marking its 40th anniversary celebrations by inaugurating a new Philippines headquarters in Manila to provide seafarers with improved facilities and better access to management and services.
"We have made a significant investment in the new Manila office, we think it important that we are able to work with our seafarers when they are ashore in a modern and comfortable environment. We are celebrating our 40th anniversary in 2013, and this investment in Manila, lays the foundation for the next 40 years as we have a long-term commitment to our business in the Philippines," said Univan CEO Bjorn Hojgaard.
The company enjoys one of the highest crew retention rates in the industry of 95 per cent reflecting the emphasis the company places on crew welfare. Univan ensures crew have both a long-term career track mapped out for them as well as in the more immediate term, a fixed plan of employment each time they come off contract from a ship.
The new office follows the opening of Univan's own fully-equipped training centre in Manila in 2010. In addition, the company has a well-established cadet programme, officer development programme and has in-house specialist training.
