UPS has started offering a service to process orders on a Sunday in the US for international shipments to 57 major international markets, including Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, Japan and Taiwan.
This means orders processed in the US on Sunday can be delivered to Asian destinations one day faster than before.
'The US is consistently one of Hong Kong's top ten import markets, so US Saturday pick-up is great news for local businesses,' said UPS Hong Kong and Macau managing director Lauren Zhao.
'Speed is essential in today's competitive environment, particularly in the fast-growing Asian e-commerce sector. As a valued partner to our customers, our job is to help them not only meet the demands of the market but find the edge that can help them grow.'
Many businesses in Hong Kong import from the US, with strong growth in the import of electrical appliances, which grew 17.2 per cent in 2018.
In addition to helping Hong Kong businesses, the new Saturday export pick-up service will benefit US businesses that want to ship exports six days per week or need a rush on weekend orders.
