CONTAINER traffic through ukrainian ports fell 1.7 per cent in January-October year on year to 840,900 TEU, reports St Petersburg's SeaNews.
By way of comparison, Russia's largest Black Sea port of Novorossiysk during January-October 2021 handled 675,300 TEU growing by 7.5 per cent.
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration, export container traffic via the Ukrainian sea ports fell 3.5 per cent year-on-year to 395,000 TEU.
Imports decreased 2.6 per cent to 410,100 TEU. Transit container traffic via the major Ukrainian ports declined 10 per cent to 35,300 TEU.
The leading Port of Odessa was up 2.2 per cent to 522,400 TEU from January-October, but volumes fell in Pivdenniy (formerly, Yuzhny) 8.2 per cent to 186,800 TEU.
The Port of Chernomorsk's (formerly known as Ilyichevsk) volumes fell 18.9 per cent year on year to 101,500 TEU, with a more spectacular drop of 52.2 per cent at Olvia Specialised Sea Port (formerly, Oktyabrsk) with 202 TEU.
