UK-bound counterfeit toys on ship from Hong Kong seized in Le Havre
FRENCH customs has seized 12,000 fake brand toys concealed in container shipped from Hong Kong bound for Britain at the Port of Le Havre.
During a routine inspection of a container, customs officers were drawn to the poor quality of the goods it housed, raising suspicions that they were counterfeit, later confirmed by the nine brands whose products had been copied.
The toys, which were later destroyed, included plastic balls of various sizes, model cars, figurines of cartoon characters, watches and game consoles, reported Lloyd's Loading List.
Last year, French Customs seized a total of 7.6 million counterfeit items.
