On November 28-29, 2024, Istanbul hosted the Türkiye – Black Sea and Eastern Mediterranean Refining and Trading Forum. The event brought together approximately 150 key executives and industry leaders from the Black Sea and Eastern Mediterranean region, providing an important platform to discuss critical market trends and foster meaningful commercial relationships.

The President of the Turkish Maritime Safety Association, Captain Lawyer Cahit İstikbal, also participated in the forum and delivered a presentation titled "Maritime Safety in the Region in the Geopolitical Reality." İstikbal's presentation, focusing on safety and security issues in the maritime sector, drew significant interest from the participants and was one of the highlights of the forum.
