TIACA and The Latin American and Caribbean Transport Association (ALTA) have signed a memorandum of understanding to foster improvements in the regions' air cargo sector, reports London's Air Cargo News.
The agreement will see the two groups work together to facilitate understanding on the contribution of aviation to economic and social development within the Latin American and Caribbean region.
Said ALTA executive director Jose Ricardo Botelho: 'Air cargo is extremely important for the Latin American and Caribbean region. In a continent with huge distances, intricate geography and lack of other means of transport as safe and efficient, aviation plays a key role to carry essential goods and merchandise that move the economies and generate employment.'
'This partnership with tiaca will allow us to jointly strengthen the work on this matter and achieve better understanding of the sector, therefore, pursuing informed decision making and smart regulatory environments.'
TIACA director general Glyn Hughes said the agreement would be discussed further at the upcoming TIACA Latin America event.
