SWISSPORT and Lufthansa have signed a new five-year contract to perform cargo handling at Brussels and Liege airports.
The agreement - which is valid until the end of 2024 - covers warehousing, cargo ramp transport and the handling of mail, pharmaceuticals, valuables and general cargo for Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines at the two Belgian hubs.
Swissport senior vice president cargo Rudolf Steiner said: 'We are pleased to anchor the cargo handling business for Lufthansa Cargo at Brussels Airport and look forward to further growing our cooperation across our global network.'
Swissport Belgium handles 550,000 tonnes of air cargo per year. It is due to complete the expansion of its Brussels facility, which will enable it to raise its handling capacity, reported London's Air Cargo News.
Late last year, the company opened a new pharma facility at the Belgian airport.
