06 February 2020 - 19:06
Flying between Zurich and Ljubljana seven times per week, the new Swiss service will use an Airbus A220 and an Embraer E-190, providing a weekly capacity of 3.5 to 10 tonnes.
The airfreight carrier has already started cargo shipments to and from Ljubljana; mail will be accepted from March 2; and special cargo in the coming weeks.
Vienna-based Cargo Austria will oversee bookings and operations for Swiss WorldCargo Ljubljana flights. Meanwhile, ground handling will be carried out by A/P LJU (Fraport Slovenija), reports London's Air Cargo News.
Jochen Leibfritz, head of cargo, north and east Europe, at Swiss WorldCargo, commented: 'We are excited to begin operating our non-stop service to and from Ljubljana. The destination will connect Zurich and the entire Swiss WorldCargo network with an important Central European market, which is home to a growing pharmaceutical sector.'
