Swedish Coast Guard Boat KBV 477 rammed by suspected smugglers
A motorboat with suspected smugglers rammed the Coastguard KBV 477 on Wednesday in waters off Lesvos. Motor boat was at speed on the road to Turkey, where KBV 477 overtook it and made contact. After repeated attempts to audio and visual signals to stop the boat remained boarding. Motor Boat dangerous maneuvers ended with the Coast Guard patrol boat rammed twice before the two people on board were caught.
Two men were arrested and taken ashore in Lesvos to waiting staff from Hellenic Coast Guard, the Greek coast guard. In connection with the operation, was a small amount of cannabis seized.
No one was hurt in the incident. Coast Guard boat had only minor damage will not affect the operational capacity, and the continuing work of the Frontex operation Poseidon.
