SRI LANKA's port container volume has reached 1.54 million TEU, marking a 16 per cent year-on-year increase, reports St Petersburg's PortNews.
The South Asia Gateway Terminals (SAGT) experienced growth, handling a total of 1.28 million TEU, reflecting a 10.4 per cent increase.
Meanwhile, the Colombo International Container Terminals (CICT) saw a relatively modest growth rate of five per cent, processing 2.2 million TEU this year, up from 2.09 million TEU in 2023.
Overall, the Colombo Port grew by 9.6 per cent, reaching 5.02 million TEU in 2024, up from 4.58 million TEU in the previous year.
