A spanish trucker strike is causing fear among many in shipping of a container transport disruption, reports container-news of Jacksonville and Athens.
Several associations of the transport sector in Spain have called for a strike.
Led by Plataforma Defense Sector Transporte, a Spanish association aimed to represent the interests of small and medium enterprises in the transport sector, has announced an 'indefinite national strike of all types of transport'.
The strike will be led by subcontractors of the country's major logistics companies, with the main aim to denounce rising operating costs.
'Ninety per cent of the medium and small transport companies are in an economic situation of total bankruptcy, just as working conditions are totally precarious. The consequences will be paid directly by all salaried drivers whom we will defend in the required lawsuits,' said A Plataforma Defense Sector Transporte.
The strike is expected to affect the movement of containers in the country.
